When it comes to face care, lips are usually overlooked when it comes to pampering and nourishment. Since lips are one of the most noticeable parts of the human body, they truly deserve special attention. When the lips lose their moisture, they become chapped and dry.

 

Lips have only three to five layers of skin cells compared to 15 over rest of the body. So you need to take care of your lips and protect them.

 

Lip Care Tips

 

Don't pull the dry flakes from your lips. Instead make a granular paste of sugar and olive oil and massage into lips. Gentle exfoliation without harming sensitive skin!

 

Use lipstick that’s formulated with moisturizers, botanical extracts, natural oils or vitamins.

 

Massage your lips with almond or olive oil. Wear lip balm, especially with cooler weather on the way. But stay away from petroleum based products as they do not increase moisture within the lip tissue. Licking your lips actually dries them out and causes more chapping to occur.

 

Wear lip balm with SPF when you are outside.

 

Drinking plenty of water will help to maintain adequate hydration levels throughout your body, including your lips.

 

Take extra care if you’ve had any alcoholic beverages as alcohol tends to dry out the delicate skin on your lips.

 

Take vitamin E supplements for soft and supple skin.
